About Me

Hi!
I’m Esra Ceran, a software engineer with a focus on the backend, passionate about building scalable, cloud-based applications. I specialize in designing and optimizing high-performance systems using Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and microservices architecture. My expertise includes deploying and maintaining containerized applications with Docker, orchestrating services with Kubernetes, and implementing CI/CD pipelines to streamline development.

With a background in full-stack development, I have experience working with modern front-end frameworks like React and integrating RESTful APIs with complex data stores. I thrive in collaborative environments, using Git, Jira, and automation tools to drive efficient teamwork.

Before transitioning into software engineering, I pursued a Ph.D. in STEM education, focusing on Math, Science, Technology, and Education with the intersection of diversity and inclusion. I have collaborated with international scholars through prestigious scholarships to conduct projects to empower girls in STEM fields. During my Ph.D., I went the extra mile to learn new statistical software and programming languages like R, SPSS syntax, and NVIVO and this is when I fell in love with coding. My research experience allowed me to develop strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to adapt to new technologies—qualities that have been invaluable in my engineering career.

I am always eager to tackle new challenges, optimize systems, and contribute to meaningful projects. Let’s connect and build something impactful!

Fun Facts:

  • I have a Google Scholar page that presents my academic research and I had 53 citations before starting coding.
  • I love traveling, have visited 15 countries, and am always counting.
  • I reckon my acceptance into the master’s program stemmed from my audacious claim during the interviews: “I will travel the world with my knowledge”.
